Tax Notices & Augmented Exports

Configured workspace capability

Tax Notices turns authority correspondence into a controlled inbox. Augmented exports package transactions, determinations, certificate links, return worksheets, notices, and an explicit availability manifest for customer review.

What it does

The Tax Notices workspace accepts PDF, PNG, JPEG, text, and forwarded .eml files. It preserves the source document, extracts available text, assigns a reviewable category and confidence, and records every lifecycle change.

Operators see overdue notices, notices due within 30 days, and open notices whose due date is unavailable. Unavailable facts remain explicit; the workflow never turns missing correspondence data into zero or a no-action conclusion.

A response worksheet organizes the issue summary, deadline, facts to verify, documents to collect, and a blank response draft. It is prepared for customer review and names the authority-controlled response channel.

The one-click augmented export downloads a ZIP with scoped transaction data, line tax determinations, sales and purchasing certificate inventories with authenticated links, return-package worksheets, and the notice inventory. manifest.json identifies every included and unavailable dataset.

Why it matters

Notices are easy to lose across inboxes, portals, and paper mail. A durable intake and due-date queue creates one operating record without promising managed representation.

Audit, filing, and advisor handoffs need evidence from several modules. The augmented bundle makes that handoff repeatable while preserving authentication around source documents.

Where it fits in the platform

Open Tax Notices from Sales Tax Compliance. Use the augmented export when a reviewer, advisor, or filing operator needs a scoped evidence package.

The workflow complements Returns Centers and certificate modules. It does not replace authority portals, legal review, or customer remittance controls.

Frequently asked questions

Does the notice inbox automatically respond to agencies?
No. It prepares a worksheet and evidence checklist. Your authorized team reviews and sends any response through the authority’s permitted channel.
What happens when OCR cannot read a notice?
The notice remains stored and is labeled needs OCR review. Missing extracted facts are not inferred.
Does the export copy every source document into the ZIP?
It includes inventories and authenticated application links. This avoids exposing raw storage locations and keeps access behind tenant controls.
Can I limit an augmented export by date?
Yes. The date range filters transactions and overlapping return packages. Certificate and notice inventories remain scoped to the selected organization and location.
