Pricing
How much does Prophit.ai cost?
Two self-serve plans, priced flat per organization: Starter at $199/month and Professional at $599/month. There are no per-state, per-filing, per-transaction or per-module fees on these plans. Enterprise is contract-defined. A 30-day free trial includes the core compliance workspace.
Can I buy just one module, like the exemption certificate manager or the tax engine?
Yes — every module has a published flat menu price for small and mid-sized businesses: exemption certificate management is $49/month per side, the tax engines are $99/month each through sales-assisted setup, and the full menu with included volumes is on the pricing page. Menu modules share one envelope (1 entity, up to 3 locations and 5 users); larger footprints fit Professional or Enterprise.
Is exemption certificate management an extra charge?
No. Sales-side and purchasing-side exemption certificate management are included in every plan, including the free trial — certificate management is core to how the platform decides taxability, not a separate SKU.
Does the price change as I add states?
No. The $199/month and $599/month plans are flat per organization regardless of how many states you have obligations in. Plans differ by users and locations, not by state count.
Product
What does Prophit.ai actually do?
It is an indirect tax management system: sales tax compliance, purchasing (use) tax compliance, exemption certificate management on both sides, filing-ready worksheet preparation, analytics, and an AI assistant — plus production standalone Sales Tax and Use Tax calculation engines that integrate with source systems through an API. Each engine is $99/location through a sales-assisted setup.
How is taxability determined?
Every transaction is checked against published, source-linked state rules first; when the rules do not squarely cover something, AI classifies it and routes anything uncertain to a person — and always-on agents keep the underlying state content current instead of waiting for a manual update.
Is Prophit.ai AI-native or is AI a feature?
Prophit.ai was built AI-native rather than adding an AI feature to an existing product: AI reads your documents, classifies every transaction, validates exemption certificates, and answers questions in-app — working alongside published state rules, with a person approving every material decision.
Does a human review the AI’s decisions?
Yes, by design. Human review gates material decisions: calculations, corrections and filing-ready outputs are approved by a reviewer, and unresolved facts fail closed rather than being guessed. AI raises coverage; the review controls keep it defensible.
Does Prophit.ai file my returns for me?
The platform prepares filing-ready worksheets, portal-upload files, and return packages per state and period for your reviewer to approve — it does not submit returns or remit tax on your behalf. If fully managed filing is your deciding requirement, our vendor guides say plainly which competitors serve that profile better.
Does Prophit.ai handle marketplace facilitator sales?
Yes. Marketplace-facilitator transactions are recognized and treated distinctly from direct sales, so facilitator-collected tax is not double-counted and state-conditional marketplace rules are applied in the compliance workspace and filing-ready worksheets.
Does Prophit.ai support VAT or international taxes?
No — deliberately. Prophit.ai is US-focused: United States sales and use tax done deeply, including local jurisdictions, rather than global VAT done thinly. If global VAT is a hard requirement, our vendor guides say plainly which platforms serve that profile better.
Where does the tax content come from?
From published, source-pinned research: the Sales Tax Atlas carries 51 state and DC guides, more than 8,000 product-treatment records and over 3,800 county and city rate pages, each pinned to the official source it came from. The same content layer drives calculation, so you can audit the rates before trusting them.
Company
How long has Prophit.ai been around?
Prophit.ai was founded in 2019 and has run production tax decisions for taxpayers since 2020 — use tax first, expanding into full sales tax compliance more recently — so the AI-native architecture has six years of production history behind it, not a launch-week demo.
What is Prophit.ai’s customer retention rate?
Prophit.ai has maintained 100% customer retention to date, based on company records through August 24, 2026.
How do I try it?
Start the 30-day free trial from the homepage — no charge, one user, one location, with the core compliance workspace including both exemption certificate managers. Self-serve paid plans start immediately; Enterprise starts with a conversation.
Data and integrations
What systems does Prophit.ai integrate with?
QuickBooks and Stripe billing connect directly today, transaction history loads from CSV/Excel exports of any billing or ERP system, and SAP S/4HANA Cloud, Oracle Fusion Cloud, and NetSuite have read-only Period Review adapters after tenant verification. Documents load as PDFs or images through an OCR and AI-extraction pipeline, and the API covers real-time calculation. ERP-side real-time and write-back modes require a separate tenant-certified implementation.
How hard is it to switch from another sales tax platform?
Switching is a two-step data problem — data in, data out — plus a one-time implementation. AI-assisted ingestion normalizes your existing exports, and your data comes back out augmented with determinations and review history. The switching guide covers per-vendor export checklists and cutover timing.
